De De Khuda Ke Naam Lyrics - Wazir Mohammed Khan
Wazir Mohammed Khan was a celebrated singer and actor in Indian cinema during the 1930s and 1940s.
He is widely recognized as the first actor to sing live on screen, with the song "De de khuda ke naam pe" being sung by him in the film "Alam Ara" (1931), which was directed and produced by Ardeshir Irani.
This film was the first Indian talkie and the song became a significant moment in the history of Indian cinema. He was also the first artist to render his voice to the first talkie ever made.
Before becoming a film actor, Khan was a prominent theatre actor and had a background in sports, particularly hockey and football. He joined the armed forces and became familiar with silent cinema, and later joined the Excelsior Film Company to start working in films.
He went on to work with Imperial Film Company, Krishna Film Company, and Ajanta Cine-one throughout his career, and was known to be proficient in multiple languages.
Khan reprised his role as a faqir in the remakes of "Alam Ara" in 1955 and 1973, and worked with some of the most renowned filmmakers of Hindi cinema such as Mehboob Khan, Dinshaw Billimoria, Hemen Gupta, L V Prasad, Nanubhai Vakil, Homi Wadia, and T Prakash Rao.
Some of his other notable films include "Mother India" (1938), "Elan" (1947), "Lajwanti" (1942), "Hatimtai Ki Beti" (1955), "Sharada" (1957), "Kabuliwala" (1961), "Kabli Khan" (1963), and "Khilari" (1968). He passed away on October 14th, 1974.
