 "Doctor Strange": A Mind-Bending Adventure - A Review

"Doctor Strange" is a 2016 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The film was directed by Scott Derrickson and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, and Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One.


The story centres on Stephen Strange, a talented but conceited surgeon who, after a car accident that leaves him without use of his hands, embarks on a healing quest while learning about the secret realm of magic and other dimensions. 

He transforms into the formidable sorcerer Doctor Strange and must use his newly acquired powers to stop an old and formidable foe named Kaecilius from destroying Earth.

Both reviewers and viewers gave the movie favourable reviews, praising it for its action, visual effects, and cast performances. The movie was financially successful, and it contributed to making Doctor Strange a prominent figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

The MCU movie "Thor: Ragnarok" (2017), "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018), and "Avengers: Endgame" (2019) all included Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is scheduled to be out in 2022.

The protagonist of "Doctor Strange" is Stephen Strange, a highly accomplished neurosurgeon who embarks on a quest for a cure after suffering severe hand injuries in a car accident. 

He discovers a formidable group of sorcerers commanded by The Ancient One and begins to study the mystic arts there.

Strange discovers a nefarious plan by former pupil Kaecilius and his minions to call the powerful Dormammu and destroy Earth as he studies and learns to control his abilities. Strange must thwart Kaecilius and his minions in order to prevent the end of the world with the aid of his fellow sorcerers and his developing talents.

Throughout the movie, Stephen Strange goes through a personal journey of humility and self-discovery, as he learns to use his newfound abilities for the greater good and sacrifices his personal ambition for the sake of others. 

The movie also has some breathtaking action sequences and special effects, as well as allusions to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Benedict Cumberbatch was the first choice to play Stephen Strange/Doctor Strange.

The film's visual effects were created by using a combination of live-action and computer-generated imagery.

The film's costume and prop designers went to great lengths to make sure the items used in the film were as true to the comics as possible.

The film includes references to other characters and elements from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, such as Tony Stark and the Avengers.


Mistakes:


In the scene where Stephen Strange is first introduced to the Ancient One, he is shown wearing a suit and tie, but in the next shot, he is wearing a robe.

In the scene where Kaecilius and his followers are first shown, the books on the shelves in the background change positions between shots.

In the scene where Stephen Strange is learning how to levitate, his coat is shown to be buttoned but in the next shot it's unbuttoned.

When Doctor Strange is fighting Kaecilius at the end of the film, his cape is shown to be damaged, but in the next shot, it's back to its original state.

When Doctor Strange is in the Hong Kong Sanctum Sanctorum, a sign in the background is shown to be in English, but in the next shot, it's in Chinese.
