"Animal" is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language action drama film directed and edited by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Pranay Reddy Vanga and Saurabh Gupta. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Murad Khetani, and Pranay Reddy Vanga under T-Series Films, Bhadrakali Pictures, and Cine1 Studios. The star-studded cast includes Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Tripti Dimri.

The story follows Ranvijay "Vijay" Singh, the son of business magnate Balbir Singh. After a troubled childhood, Vijay returns to Delhi, gets married, and builds a life in the United States. However, his world shatters when he learns about an assassination attempt on his father. Vijay sets out on a mission of revenge, leading to a complex plot involving family secrets, betrayals, and intense action sequences.

The film's runtime of 201 minutes makes it one of the longest Indian films ever made. "Animal" was released on December 1, 2023, in standard and IMAX formats, receiving mixed reviews from critics. Despite the criticism, it became the third highest-grossing Indian film of 2023, the 10th highest-grossing Indian film overall, and the highest-grossing A (adults only) rated Indian film of all time, earning around ₹717.42 crore (US$90 million).

The cast includes Ranbir Kapoor in a dual role as Ranvijay "Vijay" Singh and Aziz Haque, with Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Tripti Dimri in prominent roles. The film also features a large ensemble cast portraying various family members and characters integral to the plot.

The plot reveals intricate family dynamics, with Vijay uncovering a conspiracy involving his father's shooting. The narrative takes the audience through Vijay's journey of revenge, involving a doppelgänger, intense battles, and unexpected twists. The film explores themes of family, love, betrayal, and redemption.

The post-credits scene hints at a new threat, with Aziz Haque, the surviving brother seeking vengeance for his slain siblings. This sets the stage for potential sequels or further developments in the storyline.

The production details highlight the extensive effort involved in creating the film, from its announcement in January 2021 to the completion of principal photography in April 2023. The soundtrack, composed by various artists, features eight tracks released before the official audio launch.

"Animal" showcases the collaboration between director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and actor Ranbir Kapoor, marking their first project together. The film's success at the box office, despite mixed reviews, solidifies its place in Indian cinema as a commercial hit.
